Random Blog of Eclectic Ramblings

Deviating from my normal posts which are completely nonsensical, today's blog post brings you something only mostly nonsensical!

While most people in the United States - or North America in general, for that matter - don't really need to worry too much about changes to laws on the other side of the globe, this one may impact you more than you realize if you run a website. Now that the European Union's General Data Privacy Regulation (GDPR) policy has gone into effect, you have to be much more cautious about what personally-identifiable information you keep.

"Why should I care about this?" you ask? Very good question! If you happen to have a client in your Contacts who holds dual citizenship with a country in the E.U., and said person says they wish to have their contact information obliterated from your database to the extent allowed by law, this means they no longer wish to be seen. We got such a request from Arthur Two Sheds, and dealt with it accordingly. Unfortunately, we didn't know behind which bush he had hidden himself.

It was the middle one.
